DIY Spring Skin Scrub: Coconut Oil and Coffee

coco scrub

Here on the East Coast, spring has been making subtle appearances over the past two weeks. One week I’m having dinner on my patio and the next week I am lighting up my fireplace. With the many weather changes, our skin can be greatly impacted- negatively. So because I am the queen of DIY skincare, I did some research on coconut oil. Style influencer Mattie James, filled me in on her skincare must have; coconut oil. After some research  I found that coconut oil can be used in a multitude of ways. I love scrubs, especially as I am preparing my skin for spring, and I found that by mixing ground coffee beans with coconut oil, I created a luxurious skin scrub that had more benefits than just leaving my skin smooth as a baby’s bottom. The caffeine in the coffee hydrates your skin, as well as eliminates dead skin cells. This scrub also reduces the appearance of cellulite and acne. With the two ingredients ready for pick up at your nearest grocery store, what are you waiting for? Don’t forget to tell me what you think in the comments section. Instructions below. Stay chic Mummy’s XOXOXO

  • 1/2 cup of raw coconut oil
  • 1/4- 1/2 cup of fresh ground coffee beans (depends on how thick you want the scrub)

  • Microwave your coconut oil for 15 seconds on high to soften it
  • Combine your coffee grinds with the coconut oil
  • Mix well
  • Place contents in the refrigerator for 10 minutes (this allows the coconut oil to solidify again)
  • Mix again

*This scrub can be used all over your body and face.
